Review of Detachment (2011) by Greg S — 24 Dec 2012
"Detachment" is a perfect title, and perfectly reflects the quote early in the film by Albert Camus. This is a movie about a flawed man who feels too strongly. Too strongly but beautifully. Too strongly, but fatally.
The emotions are powerful, raw, strong, and real. The tragically sad ending is inescapable, but there is one diamond in the mire that redeems all from becoming an existential and ultimately depressing film.
Beautiful.
