Review of Dersu Uzala (1961) by Brent M — 29 Aug 2008
Excellent film of unlikely friends between a Russian military surveyor and a hermit living in Siberia the two depend on each other in very intense and drastic circumstances. This was the film that brought Kurosawa back on his feet after his failed suicide attempt.
It won the academy award for best foreign picture as well as the Golden prize at the Moscow film festival! Definitely one worth checking out.
