Review of Deepwater Horizon (2016) by Natalie V — 14 Oct 2016
Peter Berg's 'Deepwater Horizon' could easily be subtitled 'Just the Facts.' A film about the worst environmental disaster in the world's history would seemingly come with a strong message about the dangers of doing this kind of work...or so I thought.
While the film doesn't shy away from placing the blame on greedy BP executives, it doesn't really say much about anything else surrounding the events depicted.
Berg does a nice job explaining what happened on the ill-fated rig with palpable tension and the performances are rock solid throughout the entire cast, but it feels like a missed opportunity to say something more powerful about what happened out there.
