Review of Deep Rising (1998) by Skyler I — 29 Jun 2011
Deep Rising is the kind of film that's low on brains and originality, but totally makes up for it with an interesting premise, some decent acting, and a lot of excitement. It has it's problems, certainly, but it's hard to reprimand it because it's writer/director Stephen Sommers doing what he does best: making a breathtaking thrill-ride that captures the imaginations of both young boys and old men, and well, anyone who isn't a woman.
This film wears it's influences on its sleeve and is a hell of a lot of fun, despite its predictability.
