Review of Deep Impact (1998) by Imtiaz R — 17 Apr 2011
Really? I mean really? The stellar cast made me believe that this film could be much more than just another end of the world type movie but sadly, it fell short. Other than the obvious cheesy and gratuitous family being torn apart shots, I was also unimpressed by the actual ending that felt like it lasted about 5 minutes.
After watching the other hour and a half, I was expecting a bit more bang for my buck at the end but no....rocket crashes into asteroid, part of asteroid causes mass tsunamis which apparently rip apart skyscrapers but can't reach the top of a hill where Elijah Wood and his awful, AWFUL actress girlfriend are standing.
....riiiiiiiiggggggghhhht. That was pretty much it for ending, but the build up was long and drawn out. Half an hour could have been cut from this movie without an issue. A bit shocked that such stars as Morgan Freeman and Vanessa Redgrave would end up in a movie like this.
