Review of Deep Impact (1998) by John K — 27 Jan 2017
A feel-good movie that tells the story of Humanity Pulling Together to overcome a Threat to our Very Existence. Sort of in the mold of War Games but not as tight. There are lots of Heroes with a a capital H and lots of opportunities for heroic sacrifices especially near the end. Decent special effects.
Personally I was irritated by the musical score, which was sombre and ponderous and always intruding. Script, pretty corny at times. It pays to see the movie at home on your DVD player so you can fast forward through all the schmalz.
But all in all, I rate it a solid B.
