Review of Dedication (2007) by Michael T — 08 Apr 2008
I have watched it only once so far, but it sold me well given my eccentric nature and the cinematography just hits you like a stack of books. no pun intended on that one, plus it manages to pack a lot of story into almost 2 hours. tom wilkinson, he's practically in everything like in films. as for billy, quite a spin from Big Fish, but you can relate if you were the least bit capable of just letting him in despite his perceived flaws. as for mandy, all I can say is whoa, she has come a long way as actress. the worn make up look is good alongside the way they get close up of her eyes during that diner scene early on. you see a mom being crappy to her son and mandy wanting to intervene for the kid. however billy is like just let it go cos she's only gonna whale him worse when they get home just because she said something to the mom.
The screwed up notions of what men and women are suppose to behave like can really mess up a person more than they need to be. what they need to be, is something else, something more than bodies for the cycle. maybe I am way out there, but I believe that if you can love someone in spite of themselves you really are dedicated.
Love means giving your all even when hurts like hell because loving someone means living with the 'good' and the 'bad'.
