Review of Death Warrant (1990) by Ben F — 13 Jan 2010
"Death Warrant" is the prime example of ridiculously stupid, corny, over the top action movies. Just watching this movie really did make me cringe. I just thought the whole concept was kind of ridiculous.
Van Damme is an undercover cop in a prison. For plot, that's really all you need to know. This entire movie is atrocious acting from all ends, stupid one liners, horrible geek jokes, and really ridiculous fight scenes. Doesn't that seem like fun!
The one main problem I had with this film was the editing. During fight scenes the time it takes Jeane to kick someone is so unbelievably ridiculous. The people he was kicking could have EASILY dodged those, and it's just stupid to watch. There are various errors in continuity for example it cutting randomly to something else when we didn't expect it. It's stupid.
I don't know what else to say...except it was kind of a waste of time. I mean it wasn't SO horrible that I had to turn away, but "Death Warrant" seems like an unpolished, rather unfinished film, with too few decent qualities to make it memorable.
