Review of Death Warrant (1990) by Joe C — 03 Apr 2009
Initially I was worried when this film began. The opening credit sequence is this slow-motion shot of running drain water and it's almost poetic in its imagery. "What is this, a freaking art film?" I thought. Then the film cuts to Van Damme, playing a Quebec cop in L.A., on a pay phone to his superiors outside an abandoned warehouse (the serial killer he's chasing is inside) and this is the first dialogue exchange of the movie:
Police Superior: "Don't go in there! Wait for back-up!
Van Damme: "No! He killed my partner!".
And I was free to relax, knowing that I was in good hands from then on in...
