Review of Death Race 2000 (1975) by Ian S — 06 Jun 2008
I can't help but love how awful and simultaneously fantastic this film is. The thing is, this movie isn't trying to be serious. The reason why it's so funny and fantastic is because they intentionally made it this campy and outrageous. And, geez, this is fantastic.
Also, it is a wonder how Stalone ever got a career. It's impossiible to understand a single thing he says, and the things that sound vaguely like words are so stupid and badly acted that it just doesn't seem to matter. FANTASTIC! It only adds to the greatness of this film.
And, really, for such a low-budget film, it seems pretty solid, sans the "New New York" with the drawing of a futuristic city in the background that is so fake, and the plastic knife that manages to slaughter so many.
