Review of Death Race 2000 (1975) by Vincent O — 19 Mar 2009
Cult classic with David Carradine in fine fettle as 'Frankenstein' the driver from hell. Mixing black humour with political satire (America's sports obsession coupled with a deep hatred of anything European, especially French), this is an enjoyable romp that typifies the throw away culture of the B movie drive-ins. Also Starring S. Stallone in his second ever feature and chief influence to the great Mad Max movies. Hard to judge by today's.
Production standards but there remains a unique freshness to all of Roger Corman's releases at this time.
