Review of Death Race 2000 (1975) by Eric A — 24 Apr 2010
The camp is laid on nice and thick in "Death Race 2000," a type of film where the action is swift and breathtaking, the visuals are memorable, and the acting is perfunctory. While the tough guys can get through the action beats alright, it's Don Steele who's the unsung hero of this film, a very dark satire that sells its premise hard early on to make the payoffs sweeter.
Steele's self-parody is key, mining the maximum amount of comedy out of what otherwise might just be a vicious exploitation flick.
