It never ceases to amaze me that Hollywood,as it is now, with it's million dollar budgets ,cgi fx, and pretty actressess and pretteir actors, simply don't have a fucking CLUE. Remaking DEATHRACE ( oh-excuse me-re VISIONING!) iwas a stupid idea from day one. Look at the "remakes" of the WAR of the WORLDS,the HAUNTING, HOUSE of WAX, 13 GHOSTS, HOUSE on HAUNTED HILL...ad nausem. The charm of these was the simplicity and low budgets...not high gloss fx and pretty faces. Hollywood needs to get back to basics. Quit trying to dazzle us with mindless action and gore and concentrate on having fun and having fun with it. And PLEASE....dump the cgi!!! I would rather see a rubber monster or some Harryhusen type stop motion than crappy computer game style graphics (ie I AM LEGED,anyone?).
That being said....this is about the best drive in funny, exciting B-movie Mr.Corman ever put out. Carridine,Stallone and Mary Wornov are GREAT!!! Look for the 'chicken in a basket" scene! WILD!!!
