Review of Death Note (2017) by Andrew L — 26 Aug 2017
As the movie stars good actors, the story is too fast paced for it's own good. Although Willem was a perfect match for Ryuk, the producers didn't include him enough as should have been. This movie should have been either 3 hours longer with a more complicated and interesting plot line or created as a series to incorporate the various complex characters and associations. Big ups for acting as the actors did a convincing performance. If the same actors were used to create a more accurate representation of the original series this would've been a big hit for fans and people that haven't seen the original series before.
People need to stop recreating manga/anime series as it has not worked in the past and this was the last straw for me. Don't even try Hollywood, there's no damn point unless you incorporate writers and producers that were fans of the original enough to respect the originals.
Thumbs down for plot lines, writing, script, filming, length. Leave the important things to people who care about the originals.
Not impressed.
