The movie sucked. The pace was to fast. While it veird off from the anomie, it failed to establish its own course. A very big disappointment. There was no cat and mouse game between Light and L which was the essence of the original. It failed at the sub plot of the Kira Cult. The story fell flat on the overall story of Ryuk being bored and trying to make his existence interesting.
The only redeeming value was Ryuk. Ryuk was more a player and less a watch in this. However, even that plot was undeveloped.
I see a movie that would have been good if they stripped down the story to just Ryuk being bored. Instead the crew tried to deal with to much in a short amount of time and the movie was a failure. Watch the anime and don't even bother with this movie. And if you want to see it just for Ryuk, the. Just go online and google some still images.
