Death Note... so it's come to this. This has got to be one of the worst films I have seen on Netflix. Now first thing's first: the whitewashing. Just to clear things up there is no whitewashing, cause this is an American adaption, which means they change the story to be in America.

Ok, so now to my review: the film is based on a cat-and-mouse game where Light Yagami (well Turner here), a bored honor student who finds a Death Note owned by a Shinigami named Ryuk. He decides to use it to rid the world of evil and become a God known as Kira.

But along the way he stumbles onto L, the world's greatest detective, who uses any kind of methods to find out who Kira is. Here, he's just some stupid average high school student who uses the Death Note to impress some chick (who in the manga he resents dating and only dates her as a cover up).

This film is just another generic Teenage film. But let's ignore that, and think of this another way: What if you hadn't read the manga or watched the anime? Well you could probably still notice how bad this film is cause like I said, this teenager uses the Death Note to bang a chick.

This movie crams many things in too, which could have been used for future installments if they would do any, and what happened to Ryuk? Willem Dafoe kills the role and all, but he is barely in the film.

Why?! Ryuk is an important aspect to Death Note, and he would not tell Light the rules all at once, he would tell him at the last minute when he was about to be caught, so where is the fun in telling him all the rules at once? And L.

This is supposed to be a cat-and-mouse game as Light and L try to one up each other, but L finds out Light is Kira real quick just because he wouldn't kill his dad. In general, Death Note just didn't live up to my expectations and it's sad.

I enjoyed the film, I had fun watching it by making fun of it, but yeah enjoying this film, doesn't stop me from giving this 2 stars. Come on Netflix, you guys are better than this.
