Review of Death in Venice (1971) by Harpreet S — 09 Nov 2011
I can see what it's trying to do: explore the Freudian notion of suppression; referencing Dionysus; exploring the death of the bourgeoisie; critiquing the inaneness of the wealthy and the manners, etc but it's deathly dull and slow to boot.
Oh, and that doesn't excuse the over indulgent abuse of the lingering looks on the young boy by a dying man. Horrible movie.
