Review of Romance (2006) by Amy H — 30 Dec 2008

A film that looks pretty but is absolutely void of anything else. It tries to be a subtle romance similar to In the Mood For Love, only to end with an action scene. The film just can't be more than one thing at any one time.

Add to this the ultimate crime of being hilariously melodramatic. People run in slow motion and scream, have hilariously clichéd speeches and confessions of love, then die in each others arms. Everything from the performances to the actions of characters is over the top and the music, though wonderful at first, starts to drown out every scene.

The snails pace doesn't help and I became very bored. Shallow but pretty. Perhaps just search for some still images.
