Review of Dear Frankie (2004) by Marina N — 16 Jun 2012
Nice quiet little drama, without special effects or unnecessary gloss. Really beautifully told story about a child who grows up without a father and receives letters he thinks are from him but are actually written by his mother, the wonderful Emily Mortimer.
When the son wants to meet his father, the mother engages a friend's friend to be his dad for a day. Here we see Gerard Butler, before he became the preferred choice for a womanizer in romcoms or an action star.
Really emotional film that lets you feel the pain and love that the characters experience.
