Review of Deafula (1975) by Tim S — 10 May 2014
Now HERE's a film worth tracking down, if you can indeed track it down as it seems to be almost non-existant. Deafula is the story of Dracula, sort of, but told almost entirely in sign language with a narrator for those who aren't deaf.
You read that right. This film is so gloriously strange and off-putting that any fan of bad movies or even weird movies owe it to themselves to check it out. I can't even say it's an all-around bad movie, but it's more fascinating than anything.
You can see what they were going for, and the fact that someone event attempted to do something like this is just glorious to behold. There are lots of laugh-out-loud moments to be had, as well as plenty of WTF? moments.
If you can find a copy of it, prepare yourself for one of the strangest films ever made.
