Review of Deadfall (2012) by James W — 19 Oct 2013
Deadfall is one of them types of movies that grabs you by the throat almost immediately and doesn't let go until the ending, by that time you're on the edge of the seat gasping for air. This is a very compelling and thrilling movie that boasts an excellent cast who all deliver stunning performances, Eric Bana especially who plays an unstable and very sinister criminal who has a thing for violence which alone creates tension when he's around someone.
The only real problem with Deadfall is the director's style which seems to change during random parts of the movie, as the camera style seems to change and the way he jump cuts, it's a little distracting but as I said it's a spontaneous issue.
Surprisingly, there is a tonne of action, from speedy snow-mobile chases, bloody shootouts and one of the most tense and gripping endings I've seen in a long time where all the cast come together in a showdown that had me gripped, all at a family dinner table, who knows who will end up dead? A must-see movie, acted superbly and executed nicely throughout.
It's just a huge shame it didn't make much money and that's it severely underrated.
