Review of Deadfall (2012) by Taryn F — 17 Aug 2014
A decent movie, one that has some cool scenes, but unfortunately they all take place only when Eric Bana in involved. He's definatly the best actor the film has going for it, and he does his part well.
Olivia Wilde does a good job too, but her role doesn't really fit the idea of the movie. It's more of a romance story between her and a guy that picked her up when she was alone in a snowstorm.
He doesn't want her at first, and she desperately try's to get him to like her so she can get a ride to town. They talk, have sex and that's about it for her story, so her side of the story is boring compared to the rest.
Eric Bana on the other hand is being chased by cops, and kills three of them. They have a snowmobile chase, and a short shootout at a cabin. He also kills two innocent men for other reasons. The begining is sudden, unexpected and a good way to begin the film, unfortunatly the film dosen't retain that pace until near the latter part of the movie.
In the end he ends up at a house with an elderly couple, Olivia and her new boyfriend, as well as a woman cop who is a friend of the family. He is very polite and asks them to do as he says, which is enforced be the fact that he has a shotgun.
He treats them well and they all have dinner until the police show up and there is a brief gunfight and where the girl (who is Eric Banas sister in the film) is forced to shoot him when he pulls a gun on her new boyfriend.
It's an interesting movie, with a good side focusing and Eric's character, and a not so good side focusing on Olivia's. The ending dinner is the best part and has all the characters together at once for a uneasy meal, and finishes it of well.
