Review of Dead Ringers (1988) by Tad T — 25 Jun 2007
Disturbing and hallucinatory descent into perversion, drug abuse and madness, marked by Irons' startling double role. As the Mantle twins fragment under pressure from the contradictions inherent in their vicarious, incestuous relationship, Cronenberg's vision becomes progressively bleaker and more unsettling, reminiscent of his darkest and most affecting early works such as The Brood and Videodrome.
Simply overwhelming.
