Review of Dead Poets Society (1989) by Bradley H — 12 May 2013
While there are some touching moments (the classroom scene between Williams and Hawke as the best example), the emotional and intellectual impact the film advertises seems largely unearned. The link between poetry and individualism never finds a clear voice and the characters that should provide a counter-point to the passion the boys are supposed to be finding are largely undeveloped.
