Review of Dead Poets Society (1989) by Rema R — 06 Nov 2012
The Dead Poet Society is a movie about life, death, coming of age, and belonging. It is about self-discovery and the impact of how what we say can effect others around us. At the same time it serves as a cautionary tale that is possibly even more relevant today than when the movie first came out, focusing on the stresses parents put on their students and the dramatic results that can result from this.
I will admit I cried in this movie but there was also lots of laughter all throughout. All of the cast are superb, esp. the great Robbin Williams and Robert Sean Leonard, and their deep characters bring the movie to life.
