Review of Dead Calm (1989) by Doron S — 29 Aug 2012
Movies like these taught us how ironic the psychological mind can relate to real-life stories. This is my review of Dead Calm. The story is about a married couple named who take on a long yachting trip after their son died in a car accident.
Their journey soon takes a dark turn as they rescue a young man who rows away from another boat in a dinghy over to their yacht. The couple soon discover that their their new passenger has murdered his crew and escaped as one of them goes to see what is on the other boat and find themselves in a battle of wits against his violent sociopath.
It's a creepy, disturbingly smooth and yet scary. This is one of those movies that prove you don't need a ton of actors to make the scenes interesting and you don't need a ton of dialogue to get the storyboard flowing; Just three main actors on a yacht, a dinghy and a sinking boat was proven enough with approximately ten background actors.
Dead Calm gets a decent 10/10.
