Review of Dead Calm (1989) by Jose C — 29 Oct 2013
This is one heck of a thriller. Kind of short but it really packs a punch in that short time. Billy Zane plays one heck of a villain, I really came to hate his character. Nicole Kidman gives a wonderful performance.
Her character makes some hard choices which makes you think, "how far would you go to try and save someone you love?" Because of the way the plot of the movie is set up we do not get to see much of Sam Neil interacting with people.
But he does a good job when given a chance. Forget that this is one of the best Australian films or one of the best '80s films, it is one of the best pure thrillers period that you will see.
