Review of Dead Calm (1989) by Mike L — 12 Jul 2012
Zane is great as a psychopath and he is the only reason I give this film a tomato. I thought Kidman and Neill were wooden and uninteresting. This is pre-plastic Kidman before the botox gave her the "Cher" look and you wonder how she became a star.
The movie is told on two small sailing vessels where Zane has killed the everyone on the first and gets the couple to come help him. He then puts Neill on the first sinking vessel and has his way with Kidman as she tries to get away and help Neill.
I didnt find it all that suspenseful nor intriguing.
