Review of D.C. Cab (1983) by Norrin R — 20 Apr 2009
For whatever reason, I never really hear this talked about when classic 80s comedies are discussed. I don't know why, but it really fits that mold of "band of losers shapes up in the face of desperation to become something great.
" But that trope isn't what makes it enjoyable. Instead, it's the really inspired casting that carries the film. The two leads are great, but I really loved Gary Busey, the Barbarian Brothers, and Mr.
T in their roles. Adam Baldwin and Charlie Barnett have a really interesting dynamic that can swing between hatred and compassionate understanding as they struggle to find a common ground. Anyways, the film is actually fairly funny as the ensemble cast has to save their failing cab company by working together.
Definitely worth a watch.
