Review of D.C. Cab (1983) by Christopher F — 10 Jul 2008
The quintessential 80's comedy..

Mr. T? Check.
The Barbarian Brothers? Check .
Feel good underdog story that ends with uplifting 80's song? Check.
.
D.C. Cab isn't Gone With the Wind. It doesn't try to be. But it is funny, and is a feel good story in the Police Academy vein of slacker goofballs who end up being heroes. Plenty of "star power" , if you consider Paul Rodriguez, Bill Maher, Adam Baldwin and Marsha Warfield, Gary Busey and Max Gail stars..
.
The late Charlie Barnett steals the show as Tyrone Bywater but there are plenty of good comedic performances and enough good lines spread around the ensemble cast to make this a true 80's classic. .
.
Peabo Bryson and Irene Cara (who also stars as herself) pepper the movie with catchy '80s songs that compliment the movie nicely..
.
A cult classic?.
.
Not even..
.
But in the pantheon of 80's comedies, DC Cab is at the top of the list..
.
And yes, I'm serious..
