Review of Days of Heaven (1978) by Aj S — 25 Aug 2010
The movie is true visual treat. Using nothing but all natural lighting as it's main light source, "Days of Heaven" creates great sense of realism and showed the true potential of crafty filmmaking, of the 1970s that is.
Story wise, it's a little hard to follow, there's barely any dialogue throughout, but I believe that was the point that Terrence Malick was going for, to create such true realism. Some may find it slow and a bit boring, I won't lie, I too found my self yawning just a tad, but it's really a terrific movie and a worthy one to watch.
Definitley a cinematographers guide kind of movie.
