Review of Day of the Woman (1978) by Marianne G — 15 May 2008
Deserves a lot more credit than it is given, but the unfortunate change of title from Day Of The Woman hasn't done this film any favours.
Much more than a simple exploitation film, it's instead an attack on the idea 'all women secretly love it'.
It won't be for everyone as it is quite shocking in subject matter. But the rape is not glamorised and the character herself isn't sexualised.
Camille Keaton is a very likeable character as Jennifer who you find yourself rooting for all the way.
