Review of Darkman (1990) by Jake R — 19 Apr 2009
Dear Danny Elfman,.
I admire your work ethic, and from this moment strive to emulate your model of producing slightly different versions of the same shit over and over to great financial success.
Your avid fan,.
Jake.
Dated fx aside, this movie is a festival of stupid that constantly contradicts itself as it schizophrenically changes tone, never finding one that sticks. Its dramatic scenes had me in stitches and its moments of intended humor made me a little sick to my stomach. Man, revenge stories are weird.
Also, why is this movie called Darkman? Sure, the title character's synthetic skin only holds together at night, but at -no- point does he utilize that nocturnal advantage.
