Review of Darkman (1990) by Luis M — 15 Aug 2017
With a Raimi film you expect madness with a campy tone -- you get it here. The main plot of a scientist gone mad in his quest for revenge after he is left for dead is an interesting one, and the way it's used to create a comic book character from the ground up is admirable, but the abundance of side plots and a lack of focused narrative makes this a somewhat messy film.
That being said, Raimi's eccentric visuals and thrilling action sequences, combined with Danny Elfman's fantastic score, elevate this to above average and make it a decently entertaining and, quite frankly, very unique watch.
