Review of Dark Star (1974) by Zachary H — 21 Sep 2007
So cheaply made, it's extraordinary how good it is. At times clever, at times just bloody silly, it's John Carpenter's most inventive and hilarious film. Get some drinks and some like-minded friends and lots of pizza and wallow in it.
Oh and don't worry that he borrows from Kubrick (2001 and Dr Strangelove). What he does with it sends a chuckle through you.
