Review of Dark Star (1974) by Ross V — 23 Mar 2016
Dark Star is the perfectly realized bonkers twin to 2001: A Space Oddity....ummm, Odyssey . Everyone but the onboard computer has lost it in this gloriously Godot-ish exercise in exploring why people will go mad in spaaaaace! I first saw this movie on late might TV when I was fourteen; I was blown away by its mating of science fiction tropes and human absurdity.
There isn't anything else quite like it in cinema, and I love it! The main title is a Country Western song; I hate country, but I love Benson Arizona!
