Dark star is one really sarcastic and funny dark comedy. When I saw Dark Star spaceship for the first time it reminded me of rebels X-ships in Star Wars (1977) where R2D2 robot models were located in the rear, but this film is from 1974.
The references to 2001 are smart and the "intelligent bomb" reasoning as God is a great piece of humor. Nothing bad for a film whose budget was US$ 60k.
