Review of Dark Passage (1947) by Doug C — 24 Oct 2009
A nice suspense noir with Humphrey Bogart as an escaped convict trying to clear his name with the help of admirer Lauren Bacall and a taxi driver who takes him to a plastic surgeon for a new face. Bogart is stalked by a small time crook bent on extortion and by the police, who are close on his tail, before discovering he was framed by a villainous femme fatale.
Good noir cinematography, with nice use of San Francisco's landscape and better use of the first person perspective in the first part of the film than Lady in the Lake, but the camerawork has more noir elements than the plot, which ends quite well for Bogart.
