Review of Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981) by Matt M — 31 Oct 2007
Wonderfully creepy TV movie from the early '80s. Why this isn't on DVD yet, I have no idea. This should be a staple of my Halloween viewing, but it unfortunately can't be. What I love is how low-key it is.
It doesn't rely on a spooky scarecrow jumping out and slicing people. There's not really any blood to speak of, to tell you the truth. Instead, it uses a whole lot of atmosphere to generate tension, and it's all the more effective for it.
