Review of Danny Collins (2015) by Ian G — 19 Apr 2015
One of those films that seems like a cool idea that was riffed of a real life occurance of an again rock star receiving what was meant to be an inspiring and helpful letter when he started out from John Lennon letter in the 70's 30 years later throwing his core off kilter and going on one of those journeys to get back to his roots, and totally misfire tonally just due to not getting the ready mix of pathos and heartwarming moments, too many lines falling riddiculously flat or forced.
Given the cast as well ranging from Plummer, Pacino, Garner and the likes you would have expected they would have relished the material and raised it up but for whatever reason it just falls apart at least for me.
Disappointing especially for a music film lover like myself.
