Review of Danny Collins (2015) by Joshua L — 24 Jun 2015
Danny Collins is a subtle masterpiece - heartwarming yet hysterical, beautiful yet boisterous. Al Pacino's portrayal of an aging rock star struggling to find redemption is impeccable. From his clever one-liners and witty quips to his moments of pure sentiment, the performance is emotionally stirring and joyous.
With an incredible cast of characters including Annette Bening, Jennifer Garner, Bobby Cannavale and Christopher Plummer, Danny Collins soars. Midway through, I found myself thinking, "This is how you make a movie.
" Though the story may be an old one, the take redefines the redemptive tale by mastering its lighter moments without losing sight of its deeper messages. A feel good movie not to be missed.
