Review of Dagon (2001) by Eber N — 28 Nov 2012
This is the most accurate approximation of H.P. Lovecraft I have seen (although it's actually an adaptation of Shadow Over Innsmouth). The only real failing of the film, and it's significant, is that the lead character, Paul Marsh, seems ripped out of a different reality: a horror movie spoof or a Scoooby-doo episode.
He's clownish. Still, the rest of the movie pops with scares, lore, and one of the goriest scenes I've ever seen. Worthy of Argento himself. Definite popcorn horror movie.
