Review of Dagon (2001) by Georgios L — 13 Jun 2011
This is loosely based on a Lovecraft short-story and I must admit it does stay close to the nightmarish atmosphere of it. Where it does go wrong is when everything is revealed in the end, which comes off quite cheesy.
Still, it is much better than a lot of contemporary horror films and it doesn't deserve its obscurity. Its sexuality, gore and black humour makes it a very close relative of the hammer-horror films.
If you like Lovecraft, you should definitely check it out. T.
