Review of Daddy's Home (2015) by Hanneguacamole — 29 Dec 2015
Another testosterone battle? Wow, I'm so glad I wasted an hour and a half of my life on this movie! Reminds me, not in plot, but in the humor level of Vacation – also released this year. Strangely enough, I always get corraled into seeing these horrible movies knowing full well in advance that they are truly a waste of time.
Falling asleep in a movie theater is really quite rare for me. I love movies – analyzing them, watching them, loving them. But when I should be fully awake and alert, Daddy's Home quite literally made me want to not be there, hence the nap. Cringe-worthy humor piled with a plot too gimmicky for (almost) anyone to enjoy. The exception being boys with the maturity level of an 8-year old.
Perhaps it is because I have no step-parents, but this idea of daddy wars does not appeal to me in the slightest. Every kid wants to feel love and adored, but not in the way that Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg can offer. Their dynamic was possibly the only interesting aspect of the movie.
