Review of Cymbeline (2014) by Robert I — 24 Apr 2015
I give this film huge props. Instead of making some movie inspired by Shakespeare, this truly does try to adapt him with respect... Ok, that said, if your problem with the film is that it's dull ... I will give you that. If your problem with the film is that two men make a bet that one of them can sleep with the other's girlfriend - You are not given a pass. Now, with all the changes made to modernize this interpretation... I'm really not sure that that ending works. How is everyone ok with the outcome? In the play, I understood... But in this case... I don't think things are going to work out, guys...
Great cast. A fine effort. An experimental film... Which, granted, Michael Almereyda already tried with "Hamlet 2000".
