Review of Hell or High Water (2016) by Robert I — 16 Feb 2017
It's clear who the protagonist and antagonist are and most importantly it is proven throughout the movie that the antagonist is deserving of the audience's disdain . It's clearly shown that the protagonist is behaving (robbing banks) in a rational way when dealing with the conflict created by the antagonist (Texas Midland Bank), and by clearly divulging the precise details of the protagonist's actions that remedy the conflict, the audience is left wholeheartedly advocating for the successful outcome of those actions.
Wonderful acting Bridges, he has the perfect portrayal of his character, utterly watchable, believable, sympathetic and I would love to see more and more of these kinda of roles for him. The portrayal of Texas is realistic, not over the top.
..everyone in Texas really does pack a gun! Wonderful start of the third Act, everyone in the bank of the last and final hold up was armed and started shooting back...riddling Toby and Tanner Howard's 4 wheel drive truck with bullet wholes(that's right you in Texas).
Finally it is an easy movie to watch, this concise plot moves at the right pace, the whole ensemble are watchable realistic characters, characters that hold your attention and seem real and honest. I especially enjoyed both the waitresses, very real, totally honest("what DON't ya want?").
This isould be the best western I have ever seen...5 stars!
