Review of Cutthroat Island (1995) by Zach M — 15 Feb 2011
This had potential to be a good adventure film, but for some reason a lot of stuff didn't work in it. The sets and costumes were certainly great and it had a pretty awesome score, but I guess a lot of the acting wasn't that great.
I like Geena Davis, but she wasn't very convincing this time around as a swashbuckling pirate (she did a better job in The Long Kiss Goodnight as an action star). Matthew Modine also wasn't that great as the co-star, he was miscast.
It's too bad, there aren't that many good pirate films in the past few decades.
