Review of Cube Zero (2004) by Fernando R — 02 Jan 2007
A terrible sci-fi B-Movie that does what Cube Didn't Hypercube hinted at, but should never have been explictly stated; The Purpose of the Cubes. Suddenly, what was mysterious and terrible, becomes Guantanamo Box, and it's prisoners political inmates who questioned the ruling party in a near future hyper-right wing America.
The operator going into the cube, then being hunted by the worst looking cyborgs in human history, is not clever, it's another film entirely, that didn't need to be called Cube except to artificially boost it's ratings.
And let's not mince words, Cube was all about Viscera; blood and guts and hideously beautiful gory deaths, Zero has some really funky one, but some that are so poorly executed, you will either laugh or cry.
Everything Cube was not. This low budget low effort dreck was a straight to DVD, Sci-Fi channel only special for a reason.
