Review of Crumb (1995) by Andy G — 10 Aug 2013
My family said an "Oh my god" in unison as the first screen credit appeared. "David Lynch Presents" was the earliest warning, and had we listened we might not have watched the entire movie.
Crumb, as we learned, is a deeply disturbing Freudian psycho-drama, and it may not have any intention of being so. At once Terry Zwigoff's film is an affirming look at an artist's career, and at other times it's an edifying cultural critique.
At all times it is utterly vexing, a film deserving of passionate brooding.
