Review of Cruising (1980) by Freddy M — 20 Mar 2011
A terribly flawed narrative, and too many unexplained elements sink this very bold film from William Friedkin. Ironically, the major criticisms thrown towards this thriller, i.e. the seedy, controversial depictions of the gay S&M scene, are actually the film's strongest elements, providing a compelling, tangible cinematic setting regardless of it's "authenticity".
